Not G5s forum.  Go to bottom of this page, select Moto G phones, at the bottom in red,  Moto Gs / Gs plus

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hi Warrensxavier,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you'd like to get this fix. What we can do is to keep your phone in safe mode for a couple of hours, so we can determine if the quick battery discharge issue is caused by a third-party application. Please let me know if there's any improvement. Thanks.

To Enable Safe Mode

1.  Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.

2.  Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

3.  Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears

4.  Phone will reboot and Safe Mode will appear in bottom left corner

5.  If the issue does not remain in safe mode, this indicates a third party application installed from the Play Store is causing the problem.

6. Restart the device to get out of safe mode and uninstall any recently installed applications.

Best regards,
Rich

Re: Battery Draining too Fast after Update

2018-04-27, 0:46 AM

I had recently started using the outlook app and I don't know if that was the problem!

But since yesterday my phone's battery doesn't even stay stable! Like from 100-90 in 15 min on zero usage of the phone... Before it was like 100-90 in 2-3 hours with zero usage

I have no idea what's causing this problem.. could anyone suggest a solution asap? Bcoz I'm not able to tolerate this problem

*By the time I typed this my battery drained 3% ?

Wow, looks like I have quite a few comrades here!

I have the sme issue for  days now. I don't believe it's from a firmware issue, since it hadn't been updated for a month. I believe it's one of those udated apps. Either it's Outlook or the Carrier Service update.

Since then my phone is:

- getting really warm even when I'm not using it

- the TurboCharging is not turbo anymore

- in just 2 hrs, standby mode, battery drips 30%

What the hell.

Re: Battery draining very fast - Help please!!!

2018-04-27, 6:50 AM

Hi Ella,

Got the g5s plus 2 weeks ago, everything was great. Yesterday I had to use hotspot and the battery drained, so I plugged it into my USB port on my computer to charge it a bit during the day.

At home I plugged the Motorola charger and even though I had the message saying that powercharger was plugged, it indicated 8 hours to charge fully! Today the battery is draining like hell, all off even wifi, data and the phone idle (screen off) the battery is draining over 10% in 1 hour...

Like my old zuk z2 that I was so happy to get rid off... Back on the same pain after only 2 weeks.

What is next?

Thanks

Jeremie

Re: Battery Draining too Fast after Update

I think turbocharger could be the culprit here. Heat is the biggest enemy of Lithium-ion batteries. Heat reduces total lifetime of these batteries swiftly and when you charge your phone with turbocharger it gets hot. If you charge your phone's battery with this charger everyday you're apprently reducing the life of your battery rather quickly compared to when you charge your phone's battery with a normal charger. I don't always charge my phone with a turbocharger and I believe for that reason I am not facing the issue in question.

Though, there could be other reasons as well because of which your phone's battery might be dying quickly. You can see which app is using what amount battery in settings, tap on graph and see if your phone is awake when you're not using your phone and if that is the case then find out what app is keeping your phone awake which is the hard part.

My phone can last for 6-7 hours easily if I'm using my phone constantly on mobile data. My phone can last for 2 days if left alone in standby mode with mobile data and wifi off. It could last for a day (or little less than a day) if left alone with mobile data on and infrequent use.
