Can't use Google Duo on smart speakers

2019-10-16, 9:40 AM

I tried to connect to my Google Home, to connect Duo to my smart speaker.

I followed the manual and the screen tells me that i can make calls using the smart speaker, but it does not work.

When i check the GH screen it reads:

I can only useDuo on Smart Displays

I have Android 8.1.0 on my phone.

My wifes Motorola One works very well with the smart speakers, in the GH screen it reads:

You can use Duo on Smart Displays and Google Home speakers

She has Android 9 on her phone

Thanks!

Pieter

Hi PietKei,

Thanks for posting! I would like to know does your Google Account shows under the "Google Account" in Settings? If yes, remove your account and add it again.

Then go to the Google Home app > Tap Menu, then check the account > Use the same one that's signed in to Duo.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Suman

@suman

Thx for your reply.

I already removed my Google Account and installed it again.

Please check the images,it only shows that DUO is only used with Smart Displays, not with the speakers.

Thanks for your time!

@suman

I think i found a possible workaround:

I changed my phone from the Dutch language to English and now it shows that i can use Duo with the smart speakers.

I don't know if it's an issue in Android 8.10, because my wifes Motorola One (Android 9) is using the Dutch language, her Duo is working fine with the smart speakers.

Thanks,

Pieter

Hi PietKei,

Thanks for letting me know. Could you confirm if the speakers are working fine now on your device after changing the language? I will make sure to update the concerned team about this.

Suman

@suman

As i mentioned after switching the phone to the English language i could use the speakers.

I also changed the language back to Dutch and the speakers are working using Duo.

I'have been testing it for a few days and it is working fine!

Regards,

Pieter
