Re: Fingerprint Sensor Stopped Working on G5s plus

Yes Rich. I don't see the fingerprint option under Device security. It has been very difficult for me to use the mobile as I'm very much used to use fingerprint and not getting time to visit service centre . Really disappointed with Moto .This thread has been there since so long .Moto should've taken proper measures to close these kind of threads instead of asking the same questions to each customer who reports this issue .

After 2 or 3 restart it works fine. I am able to use fringerprint feature in my mobile. But I don't know what is the exact issue.

My fingerprint sensor problem was a hardware error. Sent it in for warranty repair. I did not even see the sensor in any settings.

Re: Fingerprint Sensor Stopped Working on G5s plus

I have a Moto G5S XT1792 in Brazil, battery was replaced under warranty because it inched and made the screen pop out. After the replacement, I noticed the screen was not properly aligned. Also I noticed that when charging, the fingerprint sensor was unstable and did not detect the finger most of times. But only when charging under AC or external battery pack.

I sent it again to the service center. I insisted to know exactly what was done but they only told me a software upgrade was made. I doubt it because 1- my phone was already updated months ago with Oreo, including Jan/19 patches; 2- I suspect they changed my main board. The reason I suspect this  is because Google was not able to recognize the backup I did before taking it to the service center.

The IMEI are the same as before.

In the original box there is a sticker with several numbers and I would like to know if any of them is the board serial number. The serial number I see in the phone settings does not match any of  the numbers in the box sticker.

I called Motorola and they told me the serial number of the phone is the IMEI. Is this correct? So why there is a serial number under phone settings?

Hi Everyone,

Please try the suggestions on this thread. If all fails, kindly perform a full factory data reset without restore (Settings > System > Reset > Factory Data Reset. Check and see if the fingerprint will show/work without having any apps/files reinstalled/restored right after doing the reset. Otherwise, there's a strong possibility that there's a hardware failure with the sensors and we recommend having your device checked by our service center for repair. Backup your files before doing the reset so you won't lose your important files.

Best regards,
Rich
