Hi Dog69,

Thanks for posting! Applications will not get installed unless you click install from any third-party sites. Can you tell us more about your concern?

Regards,

Suman

There is supposed to be a way to allow apps from unknown sources to be installed and away to that allow those apps to be installed. So if I downloaded an app  that is not from the play store there should be a way to block apps from being installed or not depending on what I want to do

Hi Dog69,

May I know from where or which application are you trying to disable? Kindly confirm.

It doesn't matter which app it is. It's not app-specific. If I have the APK for a specific app and it wasn't downloaded from the play store and allow installation of apps from unknown sources is not checked then those apps cannot be installed and if it is checked then those apps can be installed.

My question is how do I find that setting in the phone settings.

Try this. Settings> Apps and Notifications> Advanced> Special app access> Install unknown apps

When I get to install unknown apps it shows some of the apps and it says "not allowed "

Some of those apps are like Gmail and chrome and Verizon. So what does it mean when it says not allowed on those apps?

Tap on one of the apps listed and it will take you to another screen with a toggle.

Hi Dog69,

Try these mentioned steps here in Chrome: Settings > apps & notifications > Chrome > advanced > install unknown apps > toggle the settings. Let me know how.
