First of all, this is the Moto G5S/G5S Plus forum -- not the Moto Z2 Play forum.

That being said, you're probably facing an issue with the Z2 Play running a 32-bit OS (don't know this for sure) when the current Google Camera is 64-bit.  If you search the internet you will find an older version of the Google Camera (that still has HDR+ and some other really nice features) that was from the Google Nexus 6 (which was a 32-bit phone and therefore running a 32-bit OS) that can be run on your Z2 Play. To take full advantage of the Google's HDR+, you will need to enable cam2api in your build.prop as it is usually not enabled by default in phones that don't use the Google Camera.  Typically, this requires root, but you can do it without root, but it's a little complicated and still requires you to unlock the bootloader.

I don't know about the Z2 Play's version of the Moto Camera 2 app, but the version on the Moto G5S Plus has a low light mode (a moon symbol) that yields very similar results to the Google Camera.
