Hi Moto Users,

Even I faced this problem.

This is happening because the phone brightness is low at time, and also it gets changed based on the lite condition we are in.

Increase the phone brightness from notification tab or settings->display.

You may not see the problem.

Hope this helps.

No, it's not just the brightness. There is some kind of softening/anti-aliasing auto post-processing filter going on. Even with the brightness turned up you can still see a noticeable reduction in image quality. It becomes blurry/foggy and it's very annoying.

Hello there, I stumbled across this thread whilst looking for consumers who have the camera lens dust build up defect. Can anyone report to me if there is an accumulation of dust inside the camera lens? I am anxious about my recent order of my g5s plus and I am hoping there is no dust defect on my phone. Please get back to me ASAP as I can respond to the situation I am in a appropriate manner. Thanks

Kind Regards,

James

Hi James,

I don't know this dust issue happenes from the first day of the phone or not. But I found dust in my camera glass after a week. And I also read online many people reporting same thing. So I think there's somekind of manufacturing issue with this phone.

Regarding photo quality in viewer and after click issue, yes I'm facing that too. And I think most of the users are facing it. You can see more similar comments here.

And I tried increasing brightness but it doesn't help. It seems because of brightness image's faded/low quality impact looks less. But it doesn't mean image quality improves.

I've seen many users are saying that it's kind of software/camera app issue. But in my opinion it seems somekind of hardware issue. You can see that such issue was reported around September by many users and it's Nov. end. It's not resolved even after 3 months. Don't you think if it was really a software issue it might be solved earlier by releasing an update especially when camera is an USP of this phone?

If you're buying this phone just because of its camera, then I would suggest you to check out more comments of users, read online reviews about its camera, take a demo or test by taking different photos if anyone in your contact has this phone already purchased, see yourself and decide.

I've seen pictures taken from Mi A1 and they were really impressive. If you are looking for good camera then that one is also a good option.

The reason I think it's sofware and not hardware is because we see the preview image before it gets ruined, therefore we know that the camera hardware itself is capable of producing a good image.

It does seem like an easy fix, they can just remove whatever autoprocessing is being done to the photo. Why it hasn't been done yet, I'm not sure. It's a new enough phone where a good camera fix would probably boost sales. For whatever reason though, Lenovo/Moto doesn't think it's a priority.

Your point about software is considerable. It can be a software issue. But most annoying thing is that still they have not released any update then.

It seems Motorola is very busy with launching new phones and forget that existing customers are still waiting for many fixes.

This phone has app crashing issue also.  Many apps suddenly shows crash and asked to close it. I'm waiting for this fix also.

If such serious issues are not going to address quickly then I'm afraid what will happen after Oreo update. Will they even bother to listen to user problems when this phone won't be a newly launched. I don't know what will happen, but really Motorola disappointed we G5s Plus users, especially camera lovers.
