Android O snoozes notifications if you don't want to see them until later, hit the gear in the drop-down menu till it rotates and you can click to enable/disable icons for the top bar. Oreo makes the battery last longer as it adds a new battery optimization process.

Re: Moto g5s plus oreo update

Visually, Oreo provides nothing, and even the majority of its actual features will be unnoticeable to most users.

The status bar icons features mentioned above already exists in Nougat by way of the built-in System UI Tuner. Most apps offer notification snoozing for their own notifications. The supposed battery improvements come with caveats, and you're not going to see much improvements outside of standby time (it's not going to improve your screen-on time much, if at all). A couple new audio protocols are being added to the Bluetooth stack, but most devices that will take advantage of those are very new (it's mainly just keeping Android current with new Bluetooth standards).

So why is everyone chomping at the bit to get Oreo? Because they always blindly want the latest and greatest of everything for free and they want it now.

My prediction? They're all going to be incredibly disappointed, and right back here on the forum complaining that Moto/Lenovo did something wrong and that some other manufacturer's version of Oreo is better and blah blah blah. And then when they start encountering all the actual bugs and issues that come with Oreo (there is a reason Google released an 8.1 update so soon after releasing 8.0) and support people continually say, "That's a known issue in Oreo", that's when the complaints (whining and ridiculous threats of lawsuits, boycotts, etc.) are really going to pour in all over again.

Don't get me wrong -- I love a good update as much as any techie nerd, but I'm relatively unimpressed with Oreo so far, don't really need any of its advertised features, and really don't care to deal with all its known issues when Nougat v7.1.1 is running rather smoothly (and looks identical).

Did you just say "latest and greatest for free"? Free? Are you serious, at least I paid 16000rs for the phone. And I assume that is some amount of money.

You bought a phone -- not the operating system. Android is free.

And the phone you (and I) bought is midrange at best. You're acting like you bought $1,000 iPhone X.

Moreover talking about oreo, maybe you guys need to need to do your homework, there are a number of new improvements like picture in picture , camera improvements etc . Please go to Google and search, you'll have detailed explanation. It's like you want to be on Windows 98 even after Windows 10 has released,if that's the case I can't argue on this, because I want to make sense in an argument

Yeah, a phone which was shipped with android as it's OS and it was promised to give an update soon.Yeah it's not that expensive phone, but since you are comparing it with iphone, let me tell you something about a recent news, redmi a1 got oreo update. And just if you don't know that phone is 1000-2000 bucks lesser than this

Picture in a picture doesn't work with most apps, making it even less useful than the current split screen feature. The only camera improvements are to the Google camera, which this phone does not use.

Your windows analogy is more like comparing Jellybean to Oreo, when this is actually more like the difference between Windows 8.0 vs 8.1.

The Mi A1 sounds like a really great deal. Why didn't you buy that phone?

Personally, I didn't buy that phone because it's not available in my country (USA) and doesn't work on my mobile network (Sprint). So it's not really that great of a phone  just because it has Oreo when it isn't sold in one of the top world markets and doesn't work on two out of the top four mobile networks here.
