Re: Moto g5s plus oreo update

I really don't like that company brand anyways. But for my next phone I will stick with Moto if they come out with a 5.7 to 6.0 inch phone. But I love my moto. People are always going to want more anyways. The day oreo comes out they going to want P. It's never ending war ?

Re: Moto g5s plus oreo update

All very true. This is my second Motorola phone in a row. My first one was a Motorola Nexus 6 and now this one. Aside from slightly less quality images coming out of the camera compared to my previous Nexus 6, I'm completely satisfied with this phone. And if I use the camera app's professional modem to limit the ISO the picture quality is actually pretty close.

With regard to all of the Android phones that I have owned, I almost always eventually end up on a custom ROM anyway, typically after a third party developer sorts out all the issues with the latest version of Android. That is actually one of the main reasons why I bought this phone is because Motorola (unlike Samsung, HTC, LG, etc) allows the user to unlock the bootloader. Custom 64-bit Oreo ROMs have been available for this phone from third-party developers for months now.

All that being said, I am still happily using this phone on the stock ROM and unrooted, which again is highly unusual for me. That's how much I like this phone as-is.

Re: Moto g5s plus oreo update

Motorola used to produce good mobiles. I have used Moto G (1st & 2nd Gen). They were best mobiles of their time.

I switched to Samsung a7 then, which was an awsome mobile in terms of all aspects, after three years i switched to moto g5s plus expecting for good camera and performance.

But now after using it for just 3 months, i have realised my mistake. No doubt, the phone is good in many aspects(turbo charge, no lag, front camera, moto display, moto actions) but it fails to delievre what they promised as below:

1) Dual camera - I have compared with many other phones and found image quality is bad. No use of depth effect (its fake effect).

2) Audio output is very bad when compared to other phones. I used to play in Dance studio music systems and it sucks.

3) Its a bit heavy phone (160gms), you feel it when you hold other phone in one hand and this phone in other.

4) Screen brigtness - Its very low, serioulsy.

5) Camera gets dust from inside and no use of lens cleaning. Its a problem with this phone.

6) No further updates- Oreo, security updates, nothing ( Its better to buy samsung then).

I request Lenovo to please fix above issues in their next release and learn from other companies like OnePlus, Mi, Honor about how they are fast growing and producing quality phones.

Lenovo please release a good phone and give an exchange offer with good price otherwise you will be badly ruined by the compititers.

Re: Moto g5s plus oreo update

I've been keeping an eye on the 3rd-party developer community for this phone since I bought it in late November, and they've had both 32-bit and 64-bit Oreo ROMs available for this phone for quite a while.  However, the only things stopping from already going that route is:

(1) The stock Android camera does not work on this hardware -- the view is oriented wrong.  Therefore, the Google Camera from the Google Play Store will not work either.  A working camera with decent quality is important to me, so I'm waiting for the official Moto update. 3rd-party camera apps from Google Play produce pretty poor results on this hardware. I highly suspect that this is a problem Lenovo/Moto is encountering with the Oreo update as well.

(2) With this being an incremental model update ("Special Edition") to the Moto G5/G5 Plus, there isn't much 3rd-party developer support/activity on this the G5S/G5S Plus phone yet.  I've seen several ROMs completely disappear almost as quickly as they appeared, and I don't really care to be stuck on a 3rd-party ROM that was abruptly abandoned shortly after release.

I started researching a new phone purchase for myself when Google announced that Oreo is only a 64-bit OS (my Google/Motorola Nexus 6 is 32-bit hardware), resulting in the 3rd-party development for the once popular Nexus 6 to quickly start to disappear.  I quickly settled on the G5 Plus, due to its price and feaures as well as its popularity in the 3rd-party developer community.  When my Nexus 6 began having some unresolvable hardware issues, I started to buy the G5 Plus, but then noticed that the G5S Plus has since been released since I'd done my research and settled on the G5 Plus.  It didn't make sense for me not to buy the latest version of the phone, so I went with the G5S Plus.  If I had gone with the G5 Plus, I probably would be rooted and already on Oreo 8.1.  However, I feel that the G5S Plus is superior phone, so I don't really have any regrets.

This is actually my first Android phone (of a total of six in my family) that I really haven't felt the need to root.  I don't honestly know for sure if I'll root it even after the Oreo 8.0/8.1 update.  I might just keep it stock.

I believe that's the December security patch and rumored to also include a camera update and battery optimization???  I'm only going by what I've already seen posted here in another thread.
