Moto g5s plus slows down after oreo update

2019-02-10, 14:31 PM

After the update of Oreo phone not responding touch very well and makes everything dead slow.

Everytime this happen I always do the below steps

I have cleared cache still no luck.

Restart the phone then it's works fine only above 5 days. Same thing occurred again.

I was restarting the phone last 2 months to fix the issue.

Finally decided to reset the phone last week.

After a week time same thing happened again. So I have restarted again.

Sometimes can't even answer the phone calls. Too slow to swipe and the display of the phone take too long to appear.

It's too annoying. The phone itself is only one year old.

Please help me out Motorola..

Thanks..

Hi Smule,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We are here to help you. Did you happen to install any third-party applications or restore all of your data right after resetting your device?

Thank you for your reply,

I didn't install any third party applications.

I didn't have much data to restore.  I have removed my sd card before I resetting my phone. Because I have stored all my photos in the sd card.

Completely wiped out the internal storage and newly installed all the applications..

Cheers,

I appreciate the additional information, Smule. Do you have any screen protector on the device? Also, please update your profile with current phone, carrier, and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for us to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

Need help updating your profile? See here.

Yes I have screen protector from the beginning. I have no issues untill updated to Oreo. One thing I have noticed the system UI tuner and chrome is taking lots of RAM. Also i  have updated my profile.

Cheers..

Thanks for updating it, Smule. We have checked your device activity and it seems like everything is fine. Can you please send us a screenshot of your Running Services page? Go to Settings > System > Developer Options > Running Services and take a screenshot of that page.

Let's clear your junk files as well using the Files by Google app. Just open the app and click on Confirm and free up under Junk files. If you don't have the app installed on your phone, you can download it from Play Store. Here's what the Files by Google app look like:

Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

Please check the attached RAM usage file. Now you can see the System UI taking too much RAM and make everything dead slow.

Cheers,

Smule..

I appreciate the update and the screenshots, Smule. Will it be possible for you to run the device in Safe Mode for a couple of days for us to further isolate this? As per checking, everything seems fine on your device.

If it's fine to you, here's how to Enable Safe Mode:
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.
3. Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears.
4. The phone will reboot and Safe Mode will appear in the bottom left corner.
5. If the issue does not remain in safe mode, this indicates a third party application installed from the Play Store is causing the problem.
6. Restart the device to get out of safe mode and uninstall any recently installed applications.

Let us know how it goes.
