Hi Rajat181,

We need to identify why Google play services start draining your battery. By the way, did you make sure that your apps are up to date? Please show us some screenshot of the battery percentage that is showing that it drains your battery. Would you please update your profile with the serial/IMEI/MEID number of your phone? Is it okay if we look at your apps? This will help us investigate. Make sure that your Motorola Privacy is enabled.>Update your profile here.

There are a number of reasons why it might be using more power than you’d like.

1.Check if Google Play Services is up to date.Sometimes you just need to accelerate through your Play Services versions to fix the problem.

2.Is it draining your battery because you have loads of accounts? If your device is connected to multiple Google Accounts (personal and work accounts), then Google Play Services is having to do all that for multiple accounts.

3.It is possible that it is a third-party app. If the battery drain is a recent development the problem might not be with Google Play Services but with one of the apps that uses it. Try booting into Safe Mode; if your battery problem goes away that’s a pretty big hint that the Google Play Services battery problem is down to a third party app.

4. Check if this is because of the GPS

In the Battery usage screen>Google Play Service>Adjust power use>Location>Mode>change it to battery saving/Device only. This mode doesn't use GPS to retrieve your location, and is less accurate, but can save your battery life by only using your network and Wi-Fi information. If you find this setting to be too imprecise, simply switch it back to High accuracy later.

If Google Services is still draining your battery after you tweak your location settings, something else might be going on. One other culprit could be syncing. Try heading to Settings > Accounts, tapping the menu button, and unchecking Auto-sync Data. In Android Oreo, this setting is in Settings > User & Accounts, and Automatically Sync Data is a toggle at the bottom of the screen. If this stops the battery drain, though, it means you have an issue with syncing.

Hope these help.

Daisy

Hi Daisy,

I am also facing a battery drain issue with my Moto x Force. The battery usage shows that Google Play Services is taking up most of the juice, as against the screen/idle usually. Please help.
