Disable system update notifications: how to?

2019-04-27, 9:39 AM

Hello,

can you please tell me: how to disable the full screen system update notifications on Moto G6.

To disable Notification in " Settings  > Apps ^ Show Systems > Motorola Update Service  > App Notification >  Off " does not work.

Thank you very much!

I think some one else asked this a while ago.I don't think you can stop them directly but dig down into the Phone's Data settings>apps and find the Updater. You can restrict any app's data usage and with luck that should stop it triggering the notifications.

HTH :)

Yea, I would avoid Android Pie like the plague atm!, I knew I should, but I caved in after a while, and now I regret it!

Thank you so far.

i tried the data settings and found a "com.motorola.ccc 12345" - item. I disabled background data traffic and now i am waiting what will be. Restartet the phon yet an so far no Update-notification pops up.

BTW: whats the last recommended Android 8 - software-release recommended for the Moto g6? i have Nov. 1. 2018 installed, maybe there is one later version of android 8?

gadulu, if that wasn't sufficient, try disabling background data for Motorola Update Services itself. That's what I did, though I had to disable it twice, as it switched itself back on once so far.

There are two updates to Android 8 after November 1st, 2018. There are January 1st, and February 1st, 2019. I did both updates shortly after getting my G6. (I also don't want to update to Android 9, at least not right away. But probably not at all, considering the negative comments in the forums.)

I don't know why you wouldn't be able to disable notifications for Motorola Update Services. Unless it is because you haven't done the aforementioned Android 8 updates, possibly.
