Hi Gerd,

you really seems to be a Moto fan, cherishing frustrated customers :-)

Once in a while (which will last a couple month more), look at the date of the first report of this problem..... ;-)

Appreciate your attitude, really.

Peter

Appreciate the enthousiasm, but a workaround is not a solution.. or a Phone works properly or it doesnt...

In my case it stopped working today , just 2 weeks after purchase...

I also quickly tried the workaround but it doesnt do much.. its hardware my guess

Re: G6 Plus GPS not working

Hi Peter,

Maybe you are right. Moto G6 Plus is my second Moto phone and I appreciate this phone. My first Moto was a G4 and the screen was after 2 years use to small for me. Then I used 2 years a LG K10 and I was after 2 years dissatified (to slowly, bad accu)

Except for this GPS problem I had after 3 month use no problem and this phone is much better than the LG K10.

After workaround I can use GPS without problems.

Elsewhere I have written that I can not understand why the customers have to wait so long time for a solution.

Hi Maxstermax,

Sure, a workaround is not a final solution. But how I have written, I can use GPS without problems now.

I think the most customer in this thread have the same problem, Maybe you have another problem with your phone.

I think my problem it's a defect in the software during systemstart. After change of the location settings the phone (GPS) worked without problems and very well.

Just to make it clear again - the issue isn't that there are no visible satellites, only the last step (the gps lock/fix) can't be done as it seems.

The picture below shows the daily issue. A lot of visible satellites, but you can wait for a gps lock for minutes (or ages, because there will never be a lock) and apps are complaining that the gps signal can't be found. Then you do the workaround once or twice (sometimes it doesn't work when only done once) and you get a gps lock within seconds and everything works fine.

If your problem truly is that you see satellites, but just never get a lock, then I highly doubt the problem is hardware related or you likely wouldn't see the satellites at all. It also doesn't really make sense that it's a driver issue as some claim. If a driver works enough to see the satellites, then it's working.

Again, I'm encountering this problem on a Moto G5S Plus that is rooted, but still running the stock Nougat 7.1.1 ROM with the November 2017 security update. I cannot take any OTA updates after rooting (which I did in late November 2017), and I did not encounter this issue until March 2018. It then "resolved itself" for a while, and then returned a few weeks later, only to then resolve itself, etc. The only thing that changes in my phone is Google Maps. The only thing I modify when it occurs is reverting to a previous version of Google Maps that didn't exhibit this issue.

This same error/solution has been reported across numerous models and brands of phones -- not just Moto.

I realize some of you might not be encountering this same issue and may actually have hardware issues, but if you can see satellites, but just can't get a lock, then you are most likely having this issue.

Yeah, I never suspected it to be a hardware issue as well. That's why I hope for an easy (I can't say "quick", because it's already too late for "quick" :smileyvery-happy:) fix from Moto/Google.

Hi All,

Thank you for all your inputs, we are actively looking into this--we would like to have more information.

Please follow the process and let us know how it goes?

Install the app "AndroiTS GPS Test Pro

1- Please install attached GPS_Test_Pro_1.4.6.apk.
2- Turn on GPS and select High accuracy mode.
3- Put both device side by side in the open sky environment and run this app for at least 5 mins. (one that have an issue and another which don't)
4- Take a screenshot ( please refer to below Screenshot_GpsTestPro.png )
