G6 won't use Bluetooth microphone

2019-02-27, 3:14 AM

I've tested with multiple headsets, and the phone seems to ignore that the headset has a microphone. It sends the audio to it just fine, but it keeps using the built in microphone.

I teach languages, and that includes multiple hours on the phone, so I want to be able to put my phone in my pocket, the whole point of a Bluetooth headset is not having to hold the **bleep** phone. Help?

Hi LeoInclan,

Thanks for reaching out. I know how important this is for you, let us see what we can do to help. Have you tried testing your Bluetooth devices on other phones as well to further isolate? Aside from testing other Bluetooth headsets, what are the troubleshooting steps that you've done so far? Let me know.

Hi LeoInclan,

Got that. Let's try this. Please unpair your Bluetooth headset first then, let's reset your network settings. This will reset all of your network settings including your Wi-Fi, Mobile data and Bluetooth. Don't worry, this will not delete any of your personal info. Kindly go to Settings > System > Reset > Network settings reset > Reset settings. After that, restart the phone.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi @Agent_May. I've been having an identical problem on my Lenovo K8 Note. Similarly confirmed that :

- multiple bluetooth headsets have this issue with my phone

- wired headsets work correctly with my phone

- the bluetooth headsets work correctly with my computer

- the problem persists after resetting Network Settings.

Any ideas?

Microphone doesn't work in Bluetooth headsets

2019-09-29, 18:28 PM

I've seen other posts about this but didn't see a solution. I have two Bluetooth headsets, including a Jabra Evolve 65, that connect with the phone but the phone mic does not switch to the headset. This is true both for phone calls and recording audio to an app.

The headset mics work fine in the car and when paired with a Windows computer.

This is a G6 with Android 9.0. I have reset the network settings, thanks.

Hi Gb98501,

Thanks for your post. I'd like to confirm, do both of your headsets aren't using the microphone? When you connect your headset, go to Settings > Connected Devices > Bluetooth > Touch the gear icon next to your Bluetooth name > Make sure all options have a checkmark. Let me know if that helps.

Best regards,

Microphone does not work with either headset.

All of the connection options are checked.

Hi Gb98501,

Can you please try unpairing all Bluetooth devices connected to your phone? (Settings > Connected Devices > Bluetooth > Touch the gear icon beside the name of the paired devices > Forget. Once done, try pairing just the Jabra headset and test if the mic will work. If you still see the same behavior, kindly send me a bug report so I can have the team look at it. Hope that helps, let me know. Thanks.

Bluetooth Bug Report:
1. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap on Build number 7 times on the build number to go into the developer options mode]

4. Enable Settings -> Developer options -> Enable Bug Report shortcut > Toggle On
