Re: Moto G6 - Lag / Irresponsive - Post Pie Update [G6 Users pls share your reviews here]

did the LMSA reset a few hours ago, phone has gone back to its old snappy self. Occasional lags here and there but they are barely noticeable, may be normal (so much time has passed that I don't even remember how the device is supposed to perform). Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

for those of you that have yet to try it, take the plunge. When it comes to smartphones I'm not particularly tech-savvy but it's a very simple process, just follow the instructions in the video linked on page 58 of this thread.

Thanks to all that have helped, and no thanks to you Motorola. I live in Italy where customer care is generally not that great (compared to what happens in the US or any northern European countries), but what has happened here would be considered appalling even by our standards.

I finally broke down and tried the LMSA rescue.  While it does seem to have fixed the lag and freeze issue there are a few points which people should understand before they resort to this.

1. The LMSA rescue is basically a complete reset of the phone. You will lose all customizations, settings, files, and data you have not backed up.

2. The LMSA bakup utility will only backup photos, videos, contacts, and app APK's It will NOT backup app data or other information. So, high scores, logins, etc. will be lost unless you use a more robust backup utility.

Add me to the list of people struggling with this for the last 6 months or so.  Today I did the LMSA reset.  It was fast and reliable on my G6.

If you don't hear from me again, all is well and the lag has stopped.  I'll only return here if it didn't work.  I'm hopeful as it sounds like people who used this heavy hammer as a fix got success.

Came back to report the LMSA rescue was only a temp fix for me. The phone was 100% responsive for the first month. Second month a few hitches, overall a good experience. Third month a touch worse but still reasonable. THEN I accepted the Feb 1 security patch and boom the phone lag is 100% back and it's almost unusable. So there you go. Whomever is tasked with these security updates is breaking the phones software and still doesn't know it. I got my G6 through Fi. I'm in the process of writing Google with my horrible experience story in hope I can get a partial credit for a new phone. This will be the last Motorola I own. Never again.

I did the LMSA Rescue yesterday on XT1925-6. The only thing I changed was the launcher from CPL to Lawnchair 2. Phone is like butta again. I'll report back in 3-4 weeks.

Just want to chime and also say that any time I apply a security update it returns phone back to complete lag.

This is a completely piece of S**T phone. I'm never buying Motorola again after owning every single Moto G since Gen 1. What a joke of a company.

I did the LMSA reset and it was like setting up a new phone. Unfortunately, that was a while ago and now it's misbehaving again. I just had to restart the device because it kept freezing and lagging. I'm over this continual headache... I think it's time for a new phone (maybe a Samsung or a Sony).

Haven't reset mine yet, it has been sitting in a desk drawer for months. Late last year I upgraded to the Moto One Action and didn't regret it, it is an excellent phone. However I may take a look at doing the LMSA reset. My son dropped his phone and broke the screen so I may do a wipe of the G6 and try the LMSA and send it to him to use. Waiting to hear back from him, he lives out of state. I'll have to comb thru this thread again to see how to do the LMSA reset.
