MotoG6 after installing Android 9 the home button causes vibration even though it's turned off.

2020-02-01, 23:31 PM

My phone just forced me to update to Android 9 and how whenever I press the home button it vibrates twice.

I have double checked the settings and "touch vibration" is turned off.

Is there a way to stop these vibrations?

(I am not using one button navigation).

Just curious, how long have you had your G6 and how did your phone 'force' you to do the Android Pie 9 update? The reason I ask is, as soon as I got my new G6 a couple months ago, after completing the initial setup I turned off automatic system updates and haven't had any issues other than an occasional security update reminder/notification. I've not updated to Pie 9 for good reason. But now I'm wondering if, with time, it may 'force' an update. Sounds like I need to call Moto tech support and see what they say. There's no way I want to do the update since my phone is working flawlessly with Oreo 8.

My question was HOW were you forced? What exactly did the phone do that forced the update with absolutely no other options? The answer may help others in the same position, or possibly prevent other owners from being forced to update once they know what happened and maybe how to circumvent it.

The update prompt hung around for a couple weeks and eventually it changed to say it was going to schedule itself to update while I wasn't using the phone.

Wow....I would think that's bordering on personal legal infringement! When I purchased my G6 and G7 Play, I don't recall having to sign a contract stating Motorola Corp/Lenovo has the legal right to take contol of my phone at any time without my consent. We're the ones paying for these devices, thus keeping Motorola in business and as such, WE should be in total control of what we do or don't want to do regarding updates. I've turned off automatic system updates for good reason, and one thing for sure....if I get the same prompt you got, Motorola will have some legal 'splaining to do, Lucy.

Hi poohshoes,

Sorry to know about this and thanks for posting! Please check your device in Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. Also, kindly take the hardware test-- go the App drawer > Moto help > hardware test > test. Let me know the result.

Regards,

Suman

Save Mode did not resolve the issue.

I don't seem to have an app named Moto help.

Hi poohshoes,

Can you try these steps-- Settings > accessibility > Vibration > Touch vibration > turn off. Let me know how it goes.

I turned off Touch Vibration as you described and it did not fix the issue.
