Security Updates for Moto G6

I bought the Moto G6 through the Motorola website. The software channel is RETUS. I still have not received a single security update although Motorola stated the G6 line would get one every 60-90 days. I'm still on March 1st. Is it just me or is it the same for everyone else? Some transparency from Motorola would be appreciated.

I got one..... 

 

Hey is software channel RETIN for all ?? At least Indians?? I bought from Moto Hub ...my device is defected.. it's thin on one side... I WANT **bleep** replacement

i have a moto g6 (NOT play, NOT plus) in the united states.  i am retus as well.  my security patch level is march 1, 2018 as well.  i have not received a single security patch either.  lenovo publically promised 60-90 day security patch updates but has failed to do so. 

 

march 1, 2018 was 175 days ago and we still have not received a single security patch!!!

 

lenovo moderators, please advise.

march 1, 2018 was 179 days ago and we still have not received a single security patch!!!

 

has lenovo abandoned the moto g6 in the united states?

Actually Lenovo has Abandoned Motorola....

 

Been a customer of Motorola since Moto A1200 ... That's since long..m

 

But I see .. some merging with Lenovo or so..... They won't even give Good camera for Long Exposure shots ... I need it with 16 seconds Shutter Time... Let's see....

 

Gotta agree!! Infinix could be better .. or even Karbonn -_- .... 

 

Help and provide these things!

when lenovo announced the moto g6 would not receive monthly security patches, android communities and cell phone review sites responded very negatively as security is paramount in todays world.

 

instead lenovo committed to releasing moto g6 security patches "every 60-90 days."

 

in the united states, on retus channel, we remain on the out-of-the-box march 1, 2018 security patch.

 

tomorrow it will be 180 days since march 1, 2018.  180 days is twice lenovo's maximum 90 day patch commitment.

 

lenovo moderators:

 

1) what is lenovo's new security patch commitment for moto g6 in the united states, on retus channel?

 

2) for customers who already purchased the moto g6 based on lenovo's now failed "every 60-90 days" patch commitment, who should they contact at lenovo to get their money back?

Lenovo states: "As new security issues emerge, we will evaluate them and update your phone as needed."

 

"As needed" is a dramatic change from lenovo's previous commitment of every 60-90 days.  It is a bait-and-switch tactic.  it is unacceptable for lenovo to change their security patch commitment for an existing product whenever they want.

 

2) for customers who already purchased the moto g6 based on lenovo's now retracted "every 60-90 days" patch commitment, who should they contact at lenovo to get their money back?

 

Lenovo we need an answer here.

Thanks for letting us know! Looking forward to that software update. Hopefully the camera and performance improvements that are rolling out to the G6+ transfer over to the G6.

the thread has been marked "solved" but we have not received a security patch or even an ETA for a security patch.  an update to the moto g6 retus channel march 1, 2018 security patch was due no later than june 1, 2018 per lenovo's 60-90 day security patch commitment.  now, three months after the june 1, 2018 deadline, lenovo does not even have an ETA for a security patch?!?  lenovo must honor their commitments or offer to buy-back customer's moto g6 phones.
