You are correct. Also to mention that all the Android devices coming with Oreo 8.0+ out of the box are Project Treble enabled which says that updates should be fast and Moto G6/Plus with stock android UI should not take much time to push the updates. God knows what they think.

Re: Security updates

And also, Essetial a small android phone company is able to push updates faster than google to their phones. Yes, They have only one model to devolop and maintain. But keep this in Mind, We aren't asking for updates to be pushed faster than google or essential. We are asking timely security patches(!) and not a major version of android.

Granted Lenovo is a much bigger company than essential and they have more than enough resources to make Motorola the brand once they were. A timely software update is just as important as a camera and a chipset in a phone, And Moto seems to get the Hardware done well, But Software is just appaling on their side. If they were to listen to customers like us and improve their update trackrecord, Their phones would be selling like hotcakes on a sunday afternoon.

Alas, Who would care about what im typing now though? Just look at Nokia and their update track record. They don't have all their devices enrolled in the Android enterpirse programmed and they have more devices to maintain than Moto, Yet they have timely montly security patches. This too right from the Cheapest too the Flagship device. Get this, They have promissed to update their entire device range to android P, They include the Nokias from 2016!(they were released with nougat) And we have Moto here saying the newest budget phone from them wont have a single major android update. How pathetic.

This is why Moto is not the Moto I once new.

I still remember my Uncle who was happy that his Moto G2 got android lollipop after just 2 days the source code were released... :smileyfrustrated:

I think no one from Moto bothers to listen to our requests. They are just ignoring the customers.

Did your device also come encrypted from the factory? Mine does, and I feel it slower than my previous G4 plus. Attached image

I've never had a G4 so I have no basis of comparison, but I feel like the device works pretty well given the price of it. Yes the device did come encrypted. I've used iPhones before (6S plus) and this phone is probably about the same speed as that so I have really no issues with the speed of the device, just the lack of security updates.

Moto phones don't even deserve a second look any longer. They cut features, lack support and fail to keep promises. Then when they can't keep those pronises some Lenovo schill comes on here and states that they'd rather concentrate on quality rather than releasing updates as promised. Lenovo has become the joke of smart phones and as one that has owned a half dozen models, I can say that I'm through buying these POS phones.
