how to migrate to new g6

2020-04-04, 3:06 AM

My old Moto G6 has been having various problems with bluetooth, wifi, and gps, so I bought a new one and I want to migrate all my apps over.  I did this once before after getting a new G6 using Google backups and it worked well, but this time I'm running into a problem.  When I powered up my new G6 it wouldn't load from the backup I made from my old G6 because my old phone has a newer version of Android, so I updated the OS on my new G6, but after doing that I can't figure out a way to load it from the backup.  Seems like the only time I can do that is at startup after a factory reset, but at that point it doesn't have the new Android version.

Any ideas on how to load from a backup after updating the OS?

You can use the free Lenovo Smart Assistant,

and or this Backup and restore app form the Google Playstore by saving to the old device and then moving the backup files to the new device,

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts&hl=en_GB

for your old device have to tried a Factory Reset but from,"Recovery Mode" ? Can work wonders and make a useful backup phone or give to family or a friend :)

HTH :)
