Re: Changing default photo app

Hello there!

Got my G6 Plus today, made all the available updates and then started installing my favorite apps. Everything went ok until I got to the photo gallery app. The default app is Google Photos which I don't really like using. Tried replacing it with several different apps and I can't set either of them as default gallery apps.

I can enter the third party apps just fine, they show me the pictures, but if I try to set them as default they just give me an error. This is very annoying when you try to go to the gallery straight from the camera app. Example: I took a photo, I'm in the camera app, I tap on the upper right corner (where you have the new photo's thumbnail) and it asks me everytime which of the gallery apps I want to use. I check the "always" option but the next time I do this it asks me again.

From what I can figure out the bug is in the "Files" factory app which doesn't register the default gallery app.

Anyone else having the issue? Any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Changing default photo app

On my G3 I've disabled the Photos app.I prefer the Gallery app.

Settings/Apps/Photos and disable.

Then restart the phone just in case.See if that allows you to click on a photo file like a .jpg and see if it asks you what you would like to open it with.

Also I never use stock Android file managers.Total Commander is way better,
