I upgraded my Moto G6 to android 9 yesterday night.
Since then, my phone app is continuously crashing.
Below is the app error image:
I have tried 'stopping' the app from the settings but this hasn't solved the issue.
I was able to make a phone call by going into contacts -> choosing the contact and making a phone call.
But if I wish to access the dialled / missed call list or dial a phone number which is not saved in the contact list, I am unable to do so!
I have tried this in the safe mode as well, but the error / issue still continues:

Thanks for reporting, this is strange. We would like to learn more about this. Please update your profile with the IMEI number of your phone? Is it okay if we look into your apps to determine what is causing the issue? This will help us investigate. Make sure that your Motorola Privacy is enabled. To do so —> Settings > Systems > Motorola Privacy > Enable.

However, please be informed that it is always good to have your device perform Factory Data Reset without restoring any apps and start your device fresh after the update. This rules out most of the glitches and boosts your overall device performance.

Even I am having same problem. Need a fix as soon as possible.
The issue has been resolved on its own for my device. I think you just need to give it some time. Mine was back to normal the very next day after the update.

My details have already been updated in my profile and you are free to check my phone for this.
Although (as mentioned in other comments), the app worked fine after a couple of days, this seems a glitch that the phone app was not working for 2 full days. It was quite a hassle.

Thank you for posting, may I know what kind of error we are talking about? Could you share us a little brief about the ongoing issue you are facing with your device? Could you also share us a screenshot of the error message you are noticing? We would like to help.
Have you already tried any troubleshooting steps so we do not duplicate?

Hi, I have a similar, maybe related problem (only just found this support site).
Moto G6 Play.
After the recent 3-4 weeks ago?) software update, the phone app on my MotoG6 Play has become unreliable.
My attempt to solve the problem have been:
I don't know what else to try. Please help.
Also, the battery life has suddenly halved, but that is more recent than the misbehaviour of the phone app.
