Start up failed after freezing during update

Was prompted to update phone, clicked update and then it stayed on the "installing system update" page for 30+ minutes.


I pressed the power button until it shut off and when it started up again, it gave me this page:



Bootloader logs



start up failed:

Your devie didnt start up successfully.

Use the Software Repair Assistant on computer to repair your device.

Connect your device to your computer to get the Software Repair Assistant.


AP Fastboot Flash Mode (secure) 

failed to validate recovery image

ERROR: failed to pass validation. backup to fastboot

Fastboot reason: Fall through from recovery boot mode.

USB connected.



I have a chromebook so I am unable to download the assistant from lenovos website. 

What are my options?

Hi maurtyr,


Thanks for posting. If you're with Verizon, you can try their Software Upgrade Assistant. You can also try the Lenovo Smart Assistant, both of these tools need to be downloaded on your computer. Other than that I don't see any options but sending the phone for warranty repair.
