So whenever I download an image online the phone makes this really annoying notif sound and I was wondering if you can turn it off?

Please don't post the same issue in more than one place.  Doing that scatters the information and makes it harder to find.

Please remember that this was always designed as a peer-to-peer forum where users help users.  If no one has a solution, perhaps you should contact customer support.

Re: Welcome to the Moto G6 / Moto G6 Plus / G6 Play Community

Text messaging limits. Have a verizon prepaid account. Just switched from 4 year old

samsung to the G6 (unlocked). Switched the default sms app to verizon message+ and

can no longer create paragraphs with the left arrow. And never had to deal with a low

character limit. 160? Any way around this? Long text messsages are my thing. Other than

that I really like this phone. Verizon store didn't have it. Best buy did but they are now

sold out here. Verizon did charge me $20 for a sim card and activation. Even they were

impressed with the Moto G6. Confusing that another brand came out with the same

model # in 2017 (LG).

Texting works the same for all cell phones.  SMS stands for Short Message Service and the limitations that apply to your phone apply to all phones.  I'm not up to date on the state of messaging technology, but a message over 160 is either going to get sent as separate messages, or something in the background will "stitch" characters over 160 together to form a cohesive message.

Whether or not you realize it, you've been dealing with that since your very first text message, as have we all.

Re: Welcome to the Moto G6 / Moto G6 Plus / G6 Play Community

Thanks for the reply. Maybe samsung gets around it somehow.

I used to send long text messages and they were sent/received as one.

Even if I stay under the character limit I can't use an enter button

to create a paragraph. Lower right corner screen circle with left arrow

goes to the recipient list. On old phone it was an enter button. I could

enter blank lines all I want. Not any more.

Re: Welcome to the Moto G6 / Moto G6 Plus / G6 Play Community

I wonder how much going from a postpaid verizon phone with their

own custom version of android vs. this phone was unlocked and

I had verizon store install sim card and activate phone. Best buy

couldn't do it. Lots of the operating system is different. Not just

the messaging apps. Hard to tell what is from brand change and

what is from generic unlocked software. I stay with verizon partly

because they have a store nearby that will help me troubleshhot.

I think verizon bricked my S5 on purpose. It was time. lol

Re: Welcome to the Moto G6 / Moto G6 Plus / G6 Play Community

Are there any plans for the Moto G6 to receive Android 8.1? Additionally, does anyone have a more recent security patch than March 1st? Motorola said the G6 line would get security patches every 60-90 days and it's been much longer than 90 days since March 1st.

Thanks

I bought the phone unlocked through the Moto store but have a Metro PCS sim card in. Does that mean I won't receive updates without flashing them?

Depending on your location, I believe Moto does updates by region and because they didn't sell in the USA, according to the Reps on the forum, it is an unsupported device here in the US.
