Enable the notification light.

2019-11-14, 5:11 AM

Just bought the recently launched Moto G8 Plus, all smiles and cherries. No doubt of that, just everything I was looking for a very long long time.

But, I just can't overlook the fact, the small notification light on this device, is not enabled by default. There is not even a option indicating such thing. I mean, if you have the hardware why not enable it for its maximum capibilities.

Hope someone is reading this, and by next update there will be a option to enable it.

Hi Gauravspy,

No, the LED will light up when the charger is plugged in after the phone is shut down due to low battery. This is to indicate that the signs of life of the phone. The LED will turn off once there is a sufficient amount of charge.

So if you miss an audible notification, how do you know about it?

Hi JillH,

There is Moto Display for that, specifically the Peek display function. If you did miss the audible notification. just approach or slightly move the phone to check the notifications. You can also open the app notification by dragging the specific icon.

I have the same smartphone and I'm experiencing the same situation of Gauravspy: when I'm at work I  cannot touch or approach the phone every 10 minutes to be sure to don't miss any important notification.

There used to be a mod for the led notification ; but you need to be rooted. Something I doubt will occur on this model.

You can try one of the audio apps on Playstore & see if they suit you, regarding notifications.

This is so silly. At least add the option to periodically pulse the screen as long as there are unread notifications, even if the proximity sensor is not triggered.
