Hi Chris_DB,

The phone has a peek display feature which fade in and out if there are notifications. You can read more about how it works here.

I know about the Peek Display feature, but in my normal use case I leave the phone on the desk a lot while I'm around the house, and if I miss a notification, when I come back, I won't notice it unless I pick up the phone. Now if it was an LED, I would immediately notice it with the corner of my eye.Since this phone doesn't have an LED, what I was suggesting was to add an option for Peek Display so that the screen periodically lights up (let's say 5 minutes) as long as there are unread notifications, instead of lighting up only when phone is picked up (or motion in close proximity is detected).
