Low volume

2020-02-29, 9:28 AM

Hi,

Audio from the headphone jack is kind of low. Compared to my old Moto G5 Plus and Moto G4 Plus, I only get about 60% of the volume at full volume on Moto G8 Plus.

Since I listen to a lot of classical music, music ripped from old low-mastered CD's, and audio files with ReplayGain added to them, most headphones require a decent signal from the jack.

Will this problem be addressed in the next Android update?

cheers

Try a simple,"Soft Reset" that can clear clogged Ram on the phone. Some old data might be preventing the correct operation/s.

Press and hold the Power button in long enough for the phone to restart(around 10 seconds plus).

HTH :)

It's not the RAM, the values in mixer_paths.xml is absurdly low This forum is really strange, i looked around a bit and the "mods" aren't solving anything and none of them even addressed this issue, it's been two weeks. I get that Motorola doesn't update their budget devices a lot, but to not have any customer support is just downright weird

I'd like to look into this further. How are you measuring the volume? What makes you think it's 60% of max volume?

I've no way of measuring, I'm estimating. What I know is, with my moto g5 plus I can make my ATH-m50x sound like a jet engine at 75% volume-- but with the moto g8 plus at 100%, I get wimpy sound with not enough volume for outdoor use. I'm comparing the exact same audio files, with the same app, and same settings (mp3s, rocket player, replaygain on, etc). Moto g5 plus loud Moto g8 plus quiet Thanks

So if I reboot the phone, this issue is solved for a tiny little while.

But after about five minutes of listening to music, the volume suddenly drops, and max volume is just barely enough again.

Doesn't matter if I use the Youtube app, Rocket Player or anything else. It's fine for a while and then it drops.

Disabling the bloatware Dolby App doesn't seem to help.

The issue here is, I don't want the volume to drop.  I want to be able to control the volume myself.

Hi pizzajet,

I apologize for the delay in reply. Do you still need assistance with this? The low volume with the headset can be a little understandable, but the volume dropping is what I don't understand. Have you tried unplugging and re-plugging the headset? Have you tried a different headset? Let me know. Thanks.

Best regards,
Rich
