Moto X Play - Wacky processor readings from CPU-Z app

2018-06-16, 13:58 PM

There is this problem I'm encountering right now and it's getting annoying.

When I open the CPU-Z app to try to monitor my Moto X Play's CPU usage, I noticed something way outta the ordinary.

Everytime I reset my phone, not all the cores are active as it should, but after some time, they're all active, without turning off my phone. The core is as it is by the specifications, 4@1.65GHz + 4@1.10GHz.

Now, after some time inactive and the screen blocked and in my pocket, I examine again the CPU-Z and the wackiest thing happened: only the 4@1.65 cores are active while the 4@1.10GHz cores stopped completely. What's worse, the Architecture line above the cores reads 4@1.65 + 4@1.65. This shouldn't happen.

So it's not the battery problem, it's how the system is seeing the processor of my phone. My phone, I'll do 4 years with it on September, and it's my very first phone I bought with my own money, and I'm proud to have it.

I bet it's the system that it's doing this, I tried to use an diagnostics app and when I wanted to examine the CPU, the app closes immediately. Not even the native Dev Options has the monitoring tool available for me...

I tried yesterday factory resets to see if it's the OS that wasn't installed correctly, but it seems like it was a waste of my time...

I don't want to swap phones, mine still pretty much kicks in. So any help? Do I have to downgrade, if possible, the OS? (Currently 7.11)

Here is the screenshot according to the CPU-Z app, as you can see my point.

Hi arthur_maia,

We don't recommend third-party app in measuring things like this. Do you have any specific issues not just basing on this app? I'll be glad to help.
