They don't release dates. Perfect. How can they when they fear (Or are rather pretty sure) that they won't be able to deliver upon the dates that they give. Typical of them. If a company really cares about its customers apart from just bringing out new phones every now and then, they would either release a statement regarding the delay, or make sure to work overtime and solve bugs as soon as they can and release the software. But I think its clear that they don't care.

I don't think there's any point in posting this because like my previous posts in a different case have gone unheard, this too would face the same case. A company that doesn't care about its customers shouldn't promise anything at the first place. Or they rather shouldn't do business at all. It doesn't take 10 months to solve bugs.

it does take lot of time to fix a bug... who knows whats going on??

there may be few things which might be going on

1) they are adding new features (volte or daydream vr support??)

2)as you know lots of 3rd party custom roms are having low battery (so they might be adding some tweaks to fix it??

3)chopchop doesnt work on custom roms (exception only few) so they might be fixing that??

4)new phones are up (as you saw the new lineup of Z,X,G,E,C) so they might be focusing on that rather than ours??

5)they might end up saying that this phone is not compactible with nougat update... like g 2015?

look there are more motorola phones who didnt recieve the update (play, force, gplay,m)  and they have promised for the update but we dont know when is it gonna be?? i assume that the phones which i have mentioned above had started the soak test long time back when ours started..

so here is my conclusion that as being a noob i think that cooking any rom does take a time (it could maybe even take a year but all we need to do is wait)..

if you dont have patients then you can flash the 3rd party unstable custom roms indeed.....

3rd party ROMs released in one month of AOSP by individual programmers. Some bugs that are ironed later and you are trying in a naive way to protect manufacturers with a whole team. Come on.

I'm not protcting the manufactures indeed. I was just saying that this things might be possible but fact is that lenovo gives zero **edited** to their customers.

now let's talk about the bugs. I know it takes time to ironed any dress also but if you do it fast then the dress might also get burnt or it wont get ironed properly? won't it?

the same condition is with buggs... they take time as they might want to add new features or tweaks to make our moto x style/pure perform well and its battery life also might increase (hopefully)..  but while adding any tweaks or some extra features they encounter something and that's why to fix it they might take time

I can appreciate this observation.. :)

I myself can say i haven't been desperately waiting Nougat on my MXPE, but
it would be nice to see! I have been watching the forums and keeping an eye
out for the update and if i recall correctly, it was said somewhere that it
was estimated to arrive sometime between May and June, but it was probably
from that post from Moto's German Twitter account, so...

Anyway, I take solace in that my Moto has the front facing speakers which
no software will ever replace!

When I received the notification on my MXP for the Marshmellow update, it came in the middle of the night (I live in the midwest). Is that common for Lenovo to send update notifications at night?

There is no common or uncommon time. It depends on when the phone checks in, or when the update is pushed., so it can happen any time.

But then there's this selling point from Moto's software chief, Seang Chau:

"So now I can push out updates and upgrades... quicker because I don't need to go through a carrier's submission process. I still go through all my quality checks and all that, but I don't need a carrier to tell me I can upgrade my phone."

That worked out really well, didn't it?

Yes, I'm gonna ride this horse until Nougat arrives!
