Re: Android (7.0) Nougat Update for Moto X Pure/Style

LOL
I asked on Twitter WHY is a near pure Android OS taking so long to be developed, and I get an answer regadign an "release date not being released".

How is a WHY question taken as a WHEN?

should I ask Lenovo in chinese then so my question can be understood?

For your entertainment... Brain Regan. Just imagine he's talking to Motorola asking them to release the Nougat update for his Moto X Pure.

Re: Android (7.0) Nougat Update for Moto X Pure/Style

After sopending a "long time" on the phone with AT&T, they say that the latest update that they have for any Moto phone is 5.x  (they don't even have the 6.x update).. Since the Moto X Pure is not a phone they sold, they don't have any plans to push an update)  Sorry folks the ball is back in Lenovo's court.

I also called them back after the AT&T session and went up to level 2 support who initially wanted me to do a hard rest on my phone to see if that would allow the update to come through..  When I told the rep that I would sue Lenovo and her if it messed up my phone, she did further research and found out that Lenovo doesn't have a 7.x update for the Moto X Pure and that they don't have any idea when (or if) an update will be forthcoming.

Sorry folks.. it just gets worse.  I am recommending that no one should buy ANY Motorola/Lenovo product. Maybe that will get their attention.

Thanks for your leg work. In reality, it sounds as if Motorola is terribly disorganized. I like my Moto X pure very much, and will continue to use it regardless of whether or not it gets updates in the near future. But when the battery starts to lose its capacity, I will definitely be looking at a different brand phone as a replacement.

And in other news... the Samsung Galaxy S6 (how old is that phone again?) on T-Mobile is receiving Nougat this week.

So much for timely updates from Moto/Lenovo

Galaxy S6 release? 10 April 2015 in most countries.

IMHO This lack of support for a suposedly "Flagship" phone from Lenovo is disgraceful!!  [removed] However, since they are a Chinese company, I guess dishonorable is considered acceptable.

[removed] it is also very frustrating from a customer standpoint to have this general lack of support (or even communication) from a company when you have spent a significant amount of money for a product that you expect to be supported for at least 4 or 5 years.

You would think that Lenovo would at least be making an effort to keep customers posted on the status and or the plan for any updates.

Sigh... Just avoid Lenovo products if you want any support after the sale.

I believe 2-3 years of updates is more typical of the industry nowadays, with the notable exceptions being Apple and Google/Nexus/Pixel. Some cheaper brands get nothing or almost nothing in the way of updates. But what I don't like is the fact that Lenovo is leaving us hanging without formal announcements (release/delay/cancellation of updates) after a previous indication that an update was imminent. Very poor customer relations.

If you could really call it an "industry standard" because every company makes their own rules when it comes to putting out updates.

Unfortunately for me, I bought mine in July of 2016 which is at the tail end of that support life, not to mention shortly after the "shake-up" they've gotten with the merger.

Yeeaah, unless somebody at Moto/Lenovo really really REALLY cares, I'm not so sure the update will ever see the light of day... :(
