Re: Android (7.0) Nougat Update for Moto X Pure/Style

I think that 2 or three years of support for a $350.00 (or more) device is too little.  The manufacturers have gotten away with it because we (the customers) just accept it instead of saying "No.. no support, no future sales.".  They shouldn't get away with it just because they can.  A cell ohone is a major investment for a lot of folks.. and they can't afford to be spending $300-700 every 2 or three years (or getting locked into an expensive phone contract for a long time just so they can get a phone that is supported.

Vote with your dollars.

Hey, at least Apple tends to provide a longer term support term for their devices.. As much as I hate to say it, we may all be better off buying Apple no matter how much we may like Android.

Much I would not like to say, I believe they gave up on updating the MXPE. They delayed it long enough, and they said it would be starting to be rolled up in May or be there in May. But May has passed, so they much likely couldn't get it done by the date they promise. They way, im going to stay with the MXPE, for couple more months, and then ill make the switch to a better Moto, or just a Pixel that everyone is talking about.

Or wait for a few days for the launch of One Plus 5.

A friend of mine asked about buying a new cell phone. He asked me about my Motorola. I told him to avoid Motorola. I convinced him to get the new Google phone.

Obviously posting here isn't going to affect anything. Even using Twitter just nets you the same stock message:

"We don't provide release dates, but we're working to roll it out to all eligible devices as quickly as possible.-Erwin"

At this stage it's simply of matter of hoping we see Android 7 at some point and making a commitement to never purchase another Lenovo device. I'm stuck with this thing until the Pixel 2 comes out, but I'm never making this mistake again. It's either straight-up Google or even Apple for me going forward. No more broken OEM promises, clumsy launchers, slow/no updates, duplicated apps, or poorly coded bloatware for me again.

If you believe this just look at the update history and it will tell you that MOTO/Lenovo just does not care. Before Lenovo purchased MOTO updates were quick and timely. Lenovo has not supported the previous MOTO product line or even kept its customer base updated. If you say you are releasing something then release it or let the customers know why it is being delayed. Lenovo has done none of this and this is why people should stay away. If I ran my business like this I would be out of business. Communication is everything. If customers knew what the problems were (if any) then they would understand. Tell me that they did a dry run on Nougat and that the phone experienced some issues and that the release would be delaied then I would understand but when I hear that there is a Soak Test and hear no results and we are still waiting for some information I am free to bash Lenovo as I see fit. Just look at the stock market for Lenovo and you will see why they are in trouble. For some strange reason they purchased MOTO but did not think about supporting its existing customers. There CEO should be fired and they should hire some students from Stanford to run there dwindling overseas company. Maybe then they could start being a company that cares and watch there company profits start to improve. Just a thought as we know that no company is too big to fall.......

I think Moto/Lenovo does not have 7. This will be my last Moto/Lenovo phone...
