Psst, take another look at this link:  https://motorola-blog.blogspot.com/2016/10/n-is-for-nougat-android-70-is-coming-to.html

Happy Day, it's official at last:  the Moto X Pure Edition aka Style will get update to Android 7.0 Nougat!

Thanks for posting the blog link.  I just wonder why Lenovo/Moto waited to make this announcement until the afternoon after Google's big event to introduce Pixel phones and other new products.  It would have been nice if they had put this up a few days earlier.  Oh, well...

Interesting that the blog specifically states "Android 7.0"... I wonder if that is being used as a generic term for Nougat, or if they literally mean 7.0 and not 7.1?

We can all rejoice when this actually comes to fruition.  For now it's just an announcement.  It could very well Q2/3 2017 before we see it.

MOTO X PURE EDITION (2015)

This device will be upgraded to the Android 7 (Nougat) release, pending partner support.

Further complicating matters is this page: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/1949

Which does say 7.x, rather than just 7.0.

Is there a compelling reason for 7.1, since Pixel features are exclusives?  I don't know.  I guess the system-wide blue light filter could be useful.

If it fixes battery drain or Bluetooth issues, great.

One can dream that there will be a Nougat update.  Even though they just released the list of phones that will be updated, I assume rooting the phone will be more likely.  I love my Moto X Pure.  I just ordered my Pixel XL 128 Black.  The lack of updates that the Pure promised is annoying.  I would love to see Nougat roll.  Come on Motorola, make us all happy again!!

No 2015 moto g, no 2016 Moto e, no timescale whatsoever.

Pathetic.

A few details put together:

With Google ditching Nexus line in favor of Google Pixel, Motorola is now taking care of Nexus 6 (listed on Motorola device list to get the next update). Google just released Nougat 7.0 OTA and factory image for Nexus 6. So, since Motorola is listing Nexus 6 eligible for the coming update, and since Motorola website says that Andoid 7.x is on its way, we can fairly conclude that Moto #SkipTheSeven includes even Nougat 7.0 and the listed devices will all go directly to Nougat 7.1. Now that's not 'keeping up with the Jones' - that's like 'showing your number plate to a Ferrari'! Do you catch my drift or should I explain?

Uh, what? Google will still be maintaining the Nexus 6, as they always have.

No matter what Motorola does, nobody will be happy. I'm glad to at least have an official announcement finally. The G 2015 and E 2016 chipsets do not support OpenGL ES 3.1 (therefore no Vulkan support) so I am not surprised.

Same chipset as Moto G4 Play, it is nearly identical to the G 2015... But we are kind of falling off topic here.
