Phone Calls - Screen isn't turned back on

2016-05-05, 20:04 PM

When I place or receive a call on my MXP, the screen display turns off when I put the phone to my face to talk. But it doesn't alway turn the display back on when I move the phone away from face (e.g. to check something on the phone), or when the call is over.

That's the way it works, just touch the power button to turn the screen back on.

Never had to do that with my previous Moto X models.

If it's a new "feature" of the MXP, I hate it.

I'm pretty sure that unless something is blocking the prox sensor or you have an app that interferes with this function that the screen should light up again when you pull it away from your face.

I don't have the device with me today, so can someone else weigh in?

Test in Safe Mode and see if screen behavior is the same.

That is the observed behavior on mine.

Pull away from ear during call, screen lights up.
Set the phone down on my desk or put it in full horizontal orientation, and proximity sensor is ignored
Turn on speakerphone, proximity sensor is completely ignored in any orientation

If you manually turn off the screen via power button anytime during call, the screen will no longer be controlled by the proximity sensor.

Thanks for confirming, Jason! :)
