Wifi issues after Sept. security update

2017-01-25, 22:07 PM

I'm still going through the process of identifying the issue, but twice now my MXPE has lost internet access through Wifi.  It stays connected to my access point (AP), but an exclamation point is present.

Cycling Wifi on/off does not fix the issue.  It's present on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

I had to fully restart the device to get it working again.

Next time I'll do a bug report and some logging.

Hi jason_motox,

It's unfortunate that you had to experience this issue. It is advisable to wipe the cache partition of your device after an update to erase any temporary files that might be causing this issue. Here are the steps for your reference: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/107107/p/30,6720,9541/kw/clear

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,

JM

I would suggest trying a Network Settings reset, as this seems to correct many WiFi errors after the update. Go to Settings - Backup & Reset and select Network Settings Reset, then press the Reset Settings button and after it completes reboot and connect to your network.

Note that doing this will lose all saved WiFi networks and their passwords, and cause the phone to forget all Bluetooth pairings and you will have to do them all again.

I think I jumped the gun a bit.  Anyway, I haven't had issues since posting.  I had to reflash an update to my router, as it was acting strange and not assigning the full range of DHCP addresses (there are 17 devices connected to this AP, but only 6-8 were connecting).  Ever since, things have been good and haven't had any connection issues.

So, definitely NOT related to Sept. security patch.  Router just needed its firmware reflashed.
