I understand why updates are not sent out to all users at once, but I wish that the "Check for Updates" button actually worked for those who want it now. Non-tech savvy users wouldn't even get to the button. In lieu of that, I hope the OTA links are posted so people could use adb sideload if they wished. Security patches should not be delayed.

The only approved update method that motorola supports is OTA - ADB sideload is not approved, and in the past, those that have sideloaded didn't receive future updates as the update servers had no record of them taking the OTA update.

As for non-tech savy users - the check for updates button is in the standard place on android phones - but non-tech savy users usually wait for notification. They have no interest in getting updates as soon as possible as it is a nuisance. I have a household of non-tech savy users and they don't want to update even when their devices tell them too.

This is an Oreo update thread; security updates and their pace of release is a different topic.

I'd rather prefer to wait than be in those group of soak testing kinda thing. But eagerly waiting for the Oreo. Hope this happens before end of 2017.

camera quality for Moto X4 rear camera is not up to the mark. There is a time lag to capture each picture moreover the blurred effect is not clear. It needs an update. Please give update to improve the  camera quality of Moto X4.

Re: Android oreo deadline

"No deadline was set - only expected start date. Things don't always go as planned."

That is totally and completely untrue. Motorola stated, "you’ll receive at least two years of OS upgrades, including an update to Android 8.0 Oreo before the end of 2017."

So yes, a deadline was set. I didn't receive the Oreo update. Making the claim that the above wasn't said is insulting to our intelligence  This is false advertisement at its finest right there.

Then I guess the answer is that things don't always go as planned...which is one of the reasons dates most often are not published far in advance.

An explanation is owed to those of us that bought the devices, at the very least. False Advertisement is a serious thing.

What else on Motorola's Moto X4 website didn't go as planned?

Do all of these phones really have the dual camera system?

Is my battery 3000mAh, or is that just what Motorola planned on using, but it's really 2500 mAh?  Cause things don't always go as planned and all.
