Battery drain on Moto X4

2018-03-07, 18:23 PM

I am seeing a good amount of battery drain on my Moto X4 (4GB) Indian variant. Am on Android Oreo December security patch. Have rebooted the phone and even calibrated battery.

Can you test in safe mode and let me know if it behaves the same? Safe mode will start the device without third party applications running, To boot into Safe mode, press the physical power key, touch and hold Power off, touch OK when Reboot to Safe mode appears.

I don't know if my suggestion may mess up anything, but I have disabled Moto suggestions app. I have found that with Moto Suggestions my location icon is on constantly even when I am home and not using phone.

Hopefully this fixes my battery drain.

It's draining at around 5% an hour with no use. My Z play used next to nothing unless I was actively using it.

Re: Battery drain on Moto X4

As the turbo charger from my Z play only charges rapidly, and I can't get any 2A charger or USB socket to charge at anything other than slow (including my vehicle 2A socket for Android Auto), along with the buzzing charger which came with my X4 I have taken steps to return this for a refund as my only option with the retailer given the handset is only 9 days old.

I've assumed either the 20 second buzz, followed by 10 silent, then repeating, is either a faulty charger which has damaged the charging circuits/socket or is indicating that the phone is faulty and somehow telling the charger to charge at Turbo, then sending a signal to charge more slowly?

I've also assumed this relates in some way to the rapid battery drain I've been experiencing with little or no use.

I've placed a new order for an X4 which hopefully won't have these issues.

New device has more expected battery use, so the device must have been faulty.

Caused by the buzzing charger?

I have Moto X4 64GB variant (XT1900-7). Battery drain is horrible. On standby over night, battery drain is around 50% in 8hrs. And phone remains hot.
