Massive heating in Moto X4

2019-04-29, 3:34 AM

Recently I have purchased Moto X4 6/64GB varient and I must say the build quality, look and hand feel of this phone is just awesome. Thank you Motorola for making such a gorgeous and premium looking Moto X4.

There are some major issues with the software side which can be fixed by Motorola team.

1. Massive heating during heavy work and game play like Pubg, MC4, Asphalt 9 around 15-20 min play/use. Please fix it Motorola as soon as possible.

2. Battery drainage during gameplay is like 10-15% with 15-20min game play. Fix it as soon as possible.

3. Audio output through earphones are not loud enough and also quality of the produced sound is not good. Please make it louder and crisp so that it produces rich audio quality. Please fix it Motorola as soon as possible.

4. I have noticed some warmish tone with half of the display and other half of display is just fabulous. So check this issue also and fix it if exist.

5. I have also noticed some Bluetooth issue with this phone like I have connected my photron Bluetooth speaker with it and it acts weird like it produces sound with few seconds pause/gap like it misses 5-10 seconds songs while connected with the speaker. So please look into this and fix it as soon as possible Motorola.

Thank you Motorola for being with us and keep making such fabulous and premium quality phones.

Hi mannu_chd,

Thanks for posting. I'd like to help. Can you please update your profile with current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate.

Need help updating your profile? See here

Also, I'd like to confirm, did you restore your apps to this phone? What activity you were doing when you noticed this behavior? Try leaving your phone in safe mode and see if there's improvement.

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

Best regards,
Rich

Hi mannu_chd,

Thanks for updating your profile. I'm seeing some apps crashing make sure all apps and software are up to date in Playstore. Can you please send me the battery temperature of the device, make sure not to use the device while charging. Open Moto Help app > Hardware Test > Battery.

Yes, I regularly update all apps from playstore. And I'll upload screenshot with battery temperature. Till then go through other issues like poor audio quality through earphone.

Here are the screenshot of massive battery heating 41℃ with just 16 min of game play.

Also improve audio quality with the earphone and if possible then roll out Dolby Audio for Moto X4.

Hi mannu_chd,

Thanks for another screenshot. I would recommend doing a factory data reset without restoring apps/files (Settings > System > Reset > Factory Data Reset). Back up your files before doing the reset, so you won't lose them. Observe the phone while it's idle, make sure the brightness is at the minimum level. Let me know if there's any improvement.
