Moto X4 vs Z2 Play

2018-02-07, 22:29 PM

In think I want an X4 but the Z2 Play is now the same price and it's originally a more expensive phone.  As far as I can tell the X4 is a better phone (even though it's normally cheaper) outside of the display and the lack of mods, but I can live without those features.  I do like the always listening/Alexa option on the X4 and I like the syle better even though the glass back makes me nervous (but the water resistance of the X4 is great).

Has anyone else looked in to these two phones?  Why did you choose the X4 over the Z2 Play?

I haven't tried Z2 play but i am using moto X4..Build material quality of X4 is very cheap(will break very easily) but device is performing well. And please note, there is no official firmware available for Moto X4 till date..

I was at Best Buy today to check out the phone and I did not think it felt cheap at all, especially after handling the phones that were near it.

Definetly not cheap feeling. But a different device.

The Z line takes moto mods - the biggest differentiator. If you are not going to use any mods, then the Z line is probably not for you.

The X4 does offer some dust/waterproof capabilities and an Android One variant. Android One is good/bad - google drives the update schedule a little more, but you don't get some moto features (one button nav) that may be possible on non Android One phones.
