I have exactly the same problem. Phone refused to charge, then refused to turn on. Now can only turn it on in factory mode while connected to the charger and battery level stays at 2%.

 

IIUC the only solution is to send back to the retailer/Motorola for repair?

Yes. This is an issue that Motorola hopes doesn't become public. Your only option is to call Motorola for a replacement, which is unfortunately refurbished. I got my replacement for $90+ the return of my dead phone. I hear Motorola is charging different prices for different people so I assume you could probably talk them down if you don't like the price they are offering. Good luck. PS, There's also tons of people selling the same phone on eBay for $50 but with a cracked back glass.  Throw a case on and you're all good.

Hello guys,

 

I was posting to the other thread on this issue:

My phone started charging again after a few day for some reason.

As I state in this thread I only restarted a couple times and transferred files to a computer.

While the battery was alternating between 1%, 2% and 3% without any recognizable pattern from restart to restart,

at some point it jumped to about 6% (or was it 12%?) and only at this point I could get to the recovery (before it just shut down everytime I tried).

Though I couldn't do anything useful in recovery from that point on it startet charging.

I guess the critical "thing" happened before I went into recovery but as I said, I have no idea what it was.

 

Maybe just be patient for a few days and hope your phone will make up its mind, too.

I had the battery replaced and the battery worked fine for a month.

 

And then, the same problem. With a brand new battery. 0% charge, cannot start. Cannot start in safe mode.

 

The advice in this thread is useless and Moto should be ashamed that they've marked the issue solved. I spent $100 trying to replace the battery only to have it fail again in the exact same way.

 

I've purchased an iPhone and will never purchase a Moto device again. Go **bleep** yourselves.

How did you replace the battery and where did you find a replacement? All I could find were cheap China batteries and the installation is near impossible for the Moto x4

I took it to a local repair shop and they found one. Don't know where.

 

Either way I wouldn't recommend it. It was a waste of money as the new battery failed shortly after.

Now I am asking the crowd that have no problem with their batteries.

 

Do you use the Motorola charger or an aftermarket one?

 

I almost never use the Motorola charger, and my battery is happy and powerful as if it was one day old.

Moto X4 won't charge

My Moto X4 went completely dead.  I plugged it in and there is no indication that it is charging. I've tried the volume down and power button to see if it'll do anything and it won't. It's been plugged in for hours. I have verified that the cord works. Any ideas? Very disappointing as I've only had this phone for a year.
