That is highly unlikely, given the large number of people seeing the same problem.

The mere existence of a not-yet-fixed problem isn't "sexy".  If the media can say, "Moto X4 customers are being given the option to downgrade to Nougat because Lenovo cannot fix its implementation of "Oreo" or "Pie", THAT would attract attention, I think.

You have totally screwed up the phone with new update. No brightness, no volume, the phone rings in the background and don't get to know if I am getting a call, have tried all possible solution. Safe mode, restarts, factory reset.what on Earth were you thinking? And you talk about safety features? If someone has a problem they will manually reduce the freaking brightness and volume. Why on Earth would you turn it down completely.

I want the fix now! Else return me my freaking 23000 rupees

Hi guys, Finally I have found what is wrong with the phone.. there is an IC which controls the power when switching between earpiece and speaker, the problem is with that IC .. it does not provides the sufficient power to the speaker and hence phone is stuck with earpiece mode. I got it fixed in after market paying Rs 200 and my phone is back as it was .. you have to get that IC replaced ..

This is not software related issue .. it's that some of units have been manufactured with faulty IC .. clearly moto messed up and i aint gonna buy a Motorola device again.  For the sake of this device, I've got it fixed and this is it .  Gonna buy a 1+ next time

Re: Moto x4 low volume issue

I will add my experience.  I currently have two Moto X4's.  Only one has had the low-volume problem.  One exhibited the low-volume problem after I tried to install a telephone-recorder app, months ago.  That app didn't work, and by the time I de-installed it, the volume of 'everything' had dropped.

However, a few weeks ago I think the one with the low-volume problem returned to higher (normal???) level.  If I had a sound-level meter I could check this, but I don't.

Added:  I should clarify that I am preventing both these Moto X4's from updating to Android Pie for other reasons unrelated to this specific issues.  I had hoped to hear that Android was not limiting WiFi scan calls to about 4 every two minutes.

Yes, I have too same issues before, ie (low volume issues)but it's now changed to normal stage and working better. May be it's troubleshooted by latest software update releases ie (September Security Patch Update 2019), Any way problem solved, Thanks to Moto

The same diagnosis **remove** solution was advised by a local phone repairer albeit with a disclaimer. But now I am intrigued. Are all volumes up to par [speaker, incoming ring tone, incoming sms/chats, media player] after the new IC was put?
