Phone files are not seen by my laptop when connected.

When I connect my Moto X4 (Android One OS) to my laptop (Dell/Windows 10), my laptop sees my phone.

However, when I open my phone device on my laptop is says "This folder is empty".

What do I have to do to get my laptop to see my phones folders?

Hi,

Thanks for the post. This is odd. May I know what type of files, you're looking for? Also, can you share a photo of your computer showing the location folders?

Make sure you are using a USB data cable as some are,"Charge Only".

Install the Motorola USB drivers from here,

https://support.motorola.com/us/en/drivers

make sure the screen is unlocked and choose this option from the Notification bar

My laptop doesn't see any files. When I tap on me phone icon on my laptop, the window opens with the message "folder is empty" .

When I bring up the "Use USB for", it won't let me make any selections. They are all grayed out.

Can you see the files on the phone?

Did you install the USB drivers from the link I posted?

Hi,

Make sure all drivers are installed for Windows 10, you can download it from the link provided by @Porphyrius. Also, I would suggest trying a different cable and USB port. And try using a different computer, see if you can duplicate it. Let me know. Thanks.

Re: Phone files are not seen by my laptop when connected.

Yes, Porphyrius, I installed the USB manager and I still got "empty folder". I tried a whole bunch of changes to both

my laptop and my phone with no luck. I figured the problem was with my phone, so I went back into settings and

searched for "USB". I then clicked "Use USB for" again, and to my amazement all of the options were now available

to me, so I selected  "File Transfer". On my laptop the "internal storage" icon appeared in the moto x4 window.

When I click on that, I saw my phones folders. To verify things, I took a picture on my phone, and it showed up on

my laptop. I'm not sure what caused the change, but I thank you and everyone else who responded to

my issue. Kudos!!!
