Phone is randomly crashing

2020-03-04, 11:10 AM

since the 28th my x4 is randomly crashing, self-rebooting, refusing to power on for 5 + min, and sometimes when it finally does turn on it never gets past the "phone is starting" screen.

when it does "work" random apps will start crashing randomly including but especially ones that aren't even open. when I try to open emails or messages it crashes the app or just reopens it.

I already ran mban on it and found nothing.

I have contacted FI support for warranty inquiry but before I turn over a phone that was working perfectly until a few days ago, I want to try to fix this.

anyone have any clues?

Try Settings> Apps and Info> Phone> Storage and clear Data and Cache and then long press the power button until the the phone restarts. This is the new Android equivalent of removing the battery.

Hi Heavyoak,

Thanks for posting. Try booting the device first in Safe mode. Safe mode starts the device without any third-party apps running.

To Enable Safe Mode:
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode. While in Safe mode, please check and observe if the same issue persists.

Best regards,
