Android 9 Pie update not available

2019-06-24, 21:29 PM

Hi Moto community,

about two weeks ago it was publicly announced that there is an Android 9 Pie update

for the Moto Z2 force devices, complete with update instructions etc on the Lenovo website.

However, to this day, my phone will not find any update when I do a manual update search.

Is there a downloadable package available somewhere? I'm in Europe, perhaps Lenovo is doing country-based rollout?

Any info on when this update will finally be available globally would be appreciated.

I have not seen any public announcement - at least not by motorola. Do you have a link? Your phone will tell you when the update is available.

Now THIS is a nice move.. thanks Lenovo.
The release notes for the update apparently have been pulled from the Moto website.
GSMarena, XDA and tons of other smartphone websites still link to it and propagate the announcement, but they all point to a "document not found" page now.
Google still has a cached version online, though:

I guess it's back to the waiting game..

I've been here for over 9 years. That was just a placeholder that someone found. They always make it up so it's ready when the rollout starts. Not all information on it may be final. But it points to the fact it is coming at some point. Wish I had more information in it. But we find out about the release the same time everyone else does. And Motorola will not say anything more than check the software update page. So sadly we have to wait, but at least it's coming.

Yes, every time someone discovers a document by crawling a site, it becomes proof that something was released.

If you can find a statement from Motorola that says an update is rolling out for a phone model, then that is the proof the rollout is happening. Release notes are not evidence that the roll out has started.
