I preordered at BB for the AT&T model.  BB was much less than AT&T when first listed.  The reviews of the phone are not very positive, but I am hoping for the best.

Yeah but I called to cancel today. Of course they said it was too late so I'll just refuse the shipment when it comes in. I watched 4 reviews today and everyone of them was critical of the screen (especially) battery, etc. I have the Moto Z and I love it but what appears to be a very scratchable screen is not worth $720.00.

Other reviewers say they have had no issues with screen scratches. And those i have talked to think this version is the best yet.

But all shattershields have always been plastic and have always had a tradeoff of scratch versus crack - most users put a screen protector on.

You can refuse if you want, but moto offers a 14 day return period. User reports of refusal in the past indicate refunds may take longer to process, but do what you feel is best.

I will of course. And of course I expected responses like this but even Motorola says to use a screen protector so that to me says they are aware of the problem. And it is a problem.

This is the 3rd generation of shattershield.  The fact that the top is plastic is not new.  Plastic is softer then glass and plastic scratches when glass will not, again not new.  Shattershield users have been advocating a screen protector as it is cheaper then replacing the top shattershield layer since version 1 of shattershield

I am willing to trade softness for shatterproof. Plastic vs Glass discussion has been around forever. there is not shatterrpoof glass, so plastic it must be.

You are entitled to your opinion, And it sounds like this is not the right solution for you.

Mr.Mobile who never leaves bad reviews for Motorola phones (except for the camera) has a none too good review for the phone. Looks like Motorola did get it wrong with this phone

He picks on the same thing as others, but he didnt hate the phone. He thinks the play is a better value.

He also reports poor battery life, and other reviewers said they did fine with the battery.

His big gripe was not performance, but cost.  I certainly agree. The model is now to chase conusmers with monthly payments as carriers get to lock you in. And no one seems to cary abou $20 a month... i do.

back on the pre-order subject...

T-Mobile has a history of shipping early, I really thought I might get my Moto early, but doesn't look like it
