AptX and AptX HD in Oreo

2018-01-20, 4:15 AM

Is there anyway to set AptX or AptX HD as the default bluetooth codec for headphones. It defaults to LDAC everytime the headphones connect. I can change it in dev options, but it just reverts to LDAC.

Hi Waeverette

Thanks for reaching out. Sad to say, there is no way to set it as default.

Re: AptX and AptX HD in Oreo

I have several aptx and aptx hd earphones and several lower grade earphones. And on my z2 force it switches normally according to the device.

Looks like the phone knows the best codec to use on handshake with the device. And this appears to be across other Android phones too.

I have a pixel 2 xl and a Samsung S7 edge ( not in Oreo yet ) but with all my phones I noticed the same thing you can't force a default. Seems like Google made these parameters auto by default. At least as far as I could see

Hope this helps.
