Brand new phone not vibrating

2018-01-20, 16:46 PM

My brand new Moto Z2 Force does not vibrate. Not on message notification, on receiving calls, on texting. Nothing. I've checked all the notifications settings and, apparently, it is everything on and should be working.

Has anyone faced this issue?

Hi EdgarMJ

Sad to hear that. Have you tried booting it to safe mode? You may also go to Device Help > Fix > Hardware Tests > Vibration. Let me know how it goes.

Hello, thanks for your reply.

I have not tried to boot my phone in safe mode. How do I do it?

I just did the hardware test for Vibration and it passed.

Hi, you may click on safe mode and it will direct you to the steps. Or just simply press the Power button > Touch and hold the Power Off option > Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears. The phone will reboot and Safe Mode will appear in bottom left corner.

Hi, Ella. I rebooted my phone in safe mode, and even in this mode, the vibration did not work.

That's odd. But we can try resetting app preferences. May I ask what is the software version of your phone?

If its Nougat, you can go to Settings> Backup and Reset> Network Settings Reset > Reset Settings. For Oreo, go to  Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > Menu > reset app preferences.

If this has not helped, you can reset your phone with automatic restore disabled.

Sure!
I am running Android Nougat (7.1.1).

I followed the steps, still not working. Even when I use motion to turn on the flashlight or activate the camera it vibrates like my other Moto  Z2 Force would do.

Hello,

I have this problem as well, but never noticed it because I always have my phone on sound, and when it would be on vibration, I thought I didn't feel anything because it was in my pocket or purse. I just realized it wasn't working as I had my phone out during a meeting and saw it ringing but not vibrating on vibration mode. I then began checking to make sure all my settings were correct to allow vibration on ring, and they were. I even enabled vibration on keyboard, which I always have off, and that didn't work either. I discovered the hardware tests, and my vibration test fails every time. I chatted with a support agent who said she would email me some troubleshooting steps, but I never received them.

My phone failed the device help vibration test. Unfortunately this is my second Moto z in 2 months bc of hardware issues. I hate to send it back again. Is there any other recourse or something else to try?

I am also on the second Moto Z in a few months because of hardware issues. The first one got the MAC Adress stuck into 02:00:00:00 and wouldn't connect to anything. The second one that Lenovo sent me, won't vibrate and the camera barely works. Most of the time when I start the camera the phone freezes or the camera app just won't open.

I am extremely disappointed with this phone. I've been a Motorola fan for years. I had a Moto X perfectly running for 4 years. I convinced many people to buy Motorola phones. Never again I am buying or recommending it.
