Casting

2017-08-20, 4:20 AM

I was disappointed that there is no Miracast.  My Turbo 2 had it and it was great.  I got a Chromecast and be darned if I can get it to work without WiFi and internet present.  I want to use it in the road with my unlimited data Verizon plan.

Hi!

Doesn't all casting need either wifi or a network connection to work?

Did you put in for the free projector mode? Maybe that will replace your need for the casting on the road?

Thanks,

J

The projector mod is a workaround not a solution. Miracast support should work and be fixed natively from Moto without having to resort to hacking/rooting the phone. Also, Miracast is head and shoulders above Chromecast support which has to use a local WiFI connection shared amongst the devices. Miracast is WiDi (Wifi Direct) so much better implemented for use traveling and not having to lug around a projector mod. Thanks.

From what I remember Google removed Miracast from Android a while ago. A manufacturer would need to implement their own code to make it work. Since my Nexus 5X doesn't support Miracast since for as long as I have owned it.

Threads like this says since 6.0 Google removed the code from Android.
