Do I need to regularly calibrate the phone's battery?

2018-10-23, 3:39 AM

I'm getting a new phone thanks to insurance. I was wondering if I need to regularly calibrate the phone's battery in order to extend the lifespan of the battery.

This is one of those questions that if you line up 10 battery experts you will probably get 6 different answers.  I have read that just plugging it in every night while you sleep and leave it alone will reset the battery stat data (after 30 minutes at full charge) and start each day with fresh battery stats.  I have also read that doing that will greatly reduce the battery life over a long period.  I just plug mine in every night while I sleep and forget about it until morning and only calibrate the battery if the stats seem weird or strange.  But that's just me, I am by no means a battery expert.

Normally when I run this phone I have a Tumi wireless charging battery pack on. Keeps it at 80% and when battery pack no longer has juice I just charge the battery Mod. I only let it run down to about 30% or so and then charge phone to 100% maybe once a month to calibrate unless as stated above I see something wonky! I think batteries in phones today are designed to last 2 or more years reguardless what you do so if you run it down than 100% charge every night to calibrate then I say ENJOY your phone.0.
