Moto Z2 Force not connecting to PC

2018-11-05, 23:43 PM

I tried two cables and my pc still does not show the phone connected to it, but the phone shows charging.  In the phone, it doesn't show the USB highlighted at all. So I cannot change any settings there.
I am using Windows 8.  The phone is a Moto Z2 Force.
I even checked in the device manager of the computer.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi ImmortalCryptic,

Thanks for posting. Did you pull down the notification panel to select the USB configuration? Let me know. Thanks.

When I pull down the notification, there is nothing there.
I even went into connections and the USB is not highlighted to where I can click it.  Yet my phone says it's charging.

I tried two different cords.

I even tried it on the Windows 7 pc in the house and the Vista. It connects in the Vista but not in my Windows 8. Is there something in settings for the 8/8.1/7 ?

Hi ImmortalCryptic,

Thanks for confiming. Try enabling the Developer Options.

1. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap on Build number 7 times on the build number to go into the developer options mode]
2. After the above steps, Developer options will be enabled.
3. Go to Settings ->Developer options -> Enable Usb debugging > Toggle On

4. Scroll down Tap USB Configuration -> Media Transfer File

Let me know if that helps. Thanks.

Tried that and still no luck.

I even tried turning the phone on and off afterwards and changing it back to the Media transfer (because when I turned it off and on it changed back to charging for USB).

Any other ideas?

Thanks so much for trying to help me with this issue.  I greatly appreciate it.

Hi ImmortalCryptic

Thanks for trying. Have you downloaded the USB driver for Win 8? Here's the link.

That was one of the first things I did, but it didn't help.
Thanks again though.

Hi ImmortalCryptic,

Thanks for confirming. Make sure that you have downloaded the Windows 8 Media Feature Pack: link

Aren't you on Windows 8.1 yet? Just to making sure. Let me know how it goes. Thanks.
