Re: Moto Z2 Force wifi issues after Android 9 Pie update

2020-02-17, 20:43 PM

I do really wish I could be more helpful. I think there was at least one post on XDA or somewhere that included some log files, possibly even with verbose wifi logging on, that someone had posted and a couple of early theories about what might be the root cause. This caused me to install a logviewer/capture app, but having the VZW version, I had to jump through a couple of hoops with USB debugging to allow that app to actually see the logs as they were being generated. And then, again, my wifi issue comes and goes. As much effort as I put into getting that log viewer working, a day later, I wasn't having the constant wifi drop anymore.

I don't doubt the intentions of whoever the teams are, but I also believe that if more people could get eyes on the errors, a workaround or fix might be identified

The hint suggested by Vla1 is interesting: he installed a completely different ROM, LineageOS, and the problem persists. So it seems probable that the issue is in the last version of the wifi firmware. If they check the differences between this and the previous version they maybe can found something... #softwaredevthoughts ;)

I am guessing that the software enginneers / software developers are so wrapped up in the new phones for 2020 that they don't even know about this bug, and will probably never get around to looking into it.

Hence my suggestion to get more eyes from here/XDA/wherever on it.

Exactly. Like mentioned before. No patches since 1/7-2019. Focus is on something else than this phone.

Are you guys only seeing this on WiFi? 'Cause I am seeing this on mobile data as well.

And now I grab myself writing in here one again.

Motorola Solutions is another company. The company you want to blame is called Motorola Mobility (owned by Lenovo).

Anyway, I have the same issues with WiFi and share the frustration of others here in the forum. I cannot really believe that there will be a solution after all this time. Luckily I also have a company phone which I can use for surfing.

Also I had massive issues with the battery, which was suddenly bloated. Finally I have successfully replaced the battery myself. If you want to avoid this, I can just recommend you to avoid/limit using the turbocharging. No one needs the phone charged within 20min during the night, and this will only destroy your battery. Use another low current charger for the night and only use the delivered one if it is really necessary.

Well, 6 months without any further help or update to resolve the issue. Time to seek another phone manufacturer for my next phone, hence the Z3 is out of question now.

Yes, time to move on. No more force phone, no more Moto Z, Moto Z2 Force destroyed by the manufacturer, no support or appologies. I've been some sort of a fanboy for years, now I need to get rid of my mods and to buy a Huawei, what a shame.
