Re: Moto Z2 Force wifi issues after Android 9 Pie update

2019-08-28, 0:06 AM

Just to be clear.... everyone with a Z2 Force that received Pie should do a Factory Reset and not restore any backup data?  Is that the official answer for everyone?  With one or two people having an issue...yes, a factory reset would be logical.  With so many people having the same issue that seems pointless at this point.  I'm happy I have not used my Z2 in a while and have not yet updated to Pie.

I did a factory reset without restoring a backup. The problem still occurs.

I confirm that all steps mentioned in this post from the very beggining didn't solve the issue. Please note that my latest security patch level is from June 1, 2019 version PPX29.159-19. In my case i experience contantly wifi drops and call issues

I updated 2 days ago to PPX29.159-23 with 1 July security patch. It is a XT1789-06 Z2 force reteu. The situation looks like a little bit better than before, but I continue monitoring. First day without wifi signal drop until I put the phone on airplane mode, then I had the issue like before the security patch update: wifi lost signal, extremely slow, disconnected and riconnected. I turned off the phone this night and for now it is "normal".

Problems with wifi disconnects and dropped calls after pie upgrade (Europe) with my phone also. Very disappointed with moto, how is it possible to release an upgrade wihout properly testing it? And then not do anything for weeks?

Is it possible to somehow revert back to previous Android version without rooting?

Same here in Germany, issues started right after the update to Android 9.

Same problem here with my Moto Z2 Force in Germany. Already sent a bugreport to Agent_Mitch.

Since the update all the listed problems occured: Wifi disconnects repeatedly and is horribly slow. Happening at home when connected to a Fritzboxs 7590 and also a Ubiquiti AC-PRO. A Nexus 5X, iPad, Microsoft Surface and various other devices have no problem at all, be it speed or connection reliability.

The problem persists on other networks at work and at other peoples homes. Tried a factory reset, resetting network settings - helped for a few hours then starts reappearing. Also tried to disable 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz of my routers separately to make sure that's not the problem: No difference...

I hope Motorola will soon fix this problem with an update, as the phone currently is unusable when not connected to cellular.

Thank you Paul for the workaround, I'll try this.

But I strongly invite Motorola to find a stable solution because even if it works for everybody it's only a workaround, that kind that forbid us to use a feature like adaptive battery.

By the way I tried the workaround, worked for few hours then the issue reappeared.

A user said that the same issue on Moto Z was resolved with the last update, so maybe the devs have a starting point to identify the solution...
