No audio whatsoever

Lost audio on my Moto Z² yesterday. Only makes sound on initial startup. No ring, no sound in calls with speaker on or off. No sound playing media either. The only way I can hear anything is via Bluetooth. No sound with Bluetooth turned off either.

Are you sure it's not in silent mode?Swipe down twice from the very top and make sure "Do Not Disturb" is not in silent mode.

Mine is doing the same thing. Only works in BT. With BT and DND off, no audio

same issue since yesterday on my moto z with oreo I have had oreo for a few weeks without issue.

 

I only get audio using bluetooth. But phonecalls don't even work over bluetooth!

Hi SoWErA,

 

Sorry to know about that. I'd just like to confirm, is the sound totally not working for ringtones, playing music/video? Is it only happening with the phone speaker? Is there a sound while using a wired headset? Please test the speaker via Device Help > Fix > Hardware Test > Speaker. Let's also boot your phone into safemode and try to play a music/video. Please let me know how it goes. Thanks.

 

To Enable Safe Mode

1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.

2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

3. Touch OK when Reboot to safe mode appears

4. Phone will reboot and Safe Mode will appear in bottom left corner

5. If the issue does not remain in safe mode, this indicates a third party application installed from the Play Store is causing the problem.

6. Restart the device to get out of safe mode and uninstall any recently installed applications.

*** Begin by looking for specific application types such as launchers, task killers or anti-virus apps.

I just tried device help fix hardware test for speaker headset audio connection and all 3 fail and microphone get stuck on recording waited a minute.

Allready tried safe mode before and yesterday I even tried a factory reset and then a hard reset.

I am only able to get the phone to play any audio using a bluetooth connection.

I even tried my JBL mod speaker and no audio and it's only been collecting dust on my table since last time I used it.

I don't know if this helps or not, but maybe my frustrating situation of no audio will help someone.

 

After a bunch of troubleshooting, it turns out my z play was stuck in headphone mode without the headphones attached (I used the headphones a day ago)....all my resets, safe mode, checking 3rd party apps..... It turns out all I needed to do was to reinsert the head phones and then disconnect the headphones.

 

Now I have audio again. :-)

 

Your results may vary, but definitely worth the couple of seconds to give it a try.  Good luck!

No audio after update

I just updated my Moto z to the latest security update and lo upon startup I have no audio from apps or phone calls. I can still get audio by selecting what ringtone I'm using in my settings, so the speakers still work. I've tried restarting in safe mode, made sure I'm not on silent, and that there are no connected Bluetooth devices. The problem persists and I'm at a losse. Any help would be appreciated.
